We Need Your Help!

The Foresthill community has always been very proactive in supporting the hungry and taking action to help neighbors in need.  Even so, the Summer and Fall months are always difficult for food closets/banks.
Elijah’s Jar is the only permanent year-round food closet in the Foresthill area. We serve low income families, seniors, homeless, and disabled residents of the Foresthill Divide regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or religion. This includes the foothill communities of Iowa Hill, Michigan Bluff, Baker Ranch and Yankee Jim as well as Foresthill. We are an isolated community without any scheduled transportation system. Our clients without their own transportation would be in very serious need if we were not there to help.
We try to provide food for at least nine meals per person, once per month. We also offer emergency clothing and when available toiletries, sheets, blankets, and towels.
How can you help?

  • Elijah’s Jar is run entirely by about 43 volunteers, there is no paid staff.  We would love for you to join us! We are always looking for computer savvy folks, those who want to lend a hand with distribution, assistance with donation and order pick up, and all manner of things. Give us a call today to find out more 530-367-3085.
  • It takes over $1,000 a week to run Elijah’s Jar and we do not receive any regular government funding.  Monetary donations are essential in our ability to serve.  With access to The Placer Food Bank and other sources not available to the general public, we can purchase much more with the money donated.  Some employers are now matching employee donations – doubling the good! Elijah's Jar is a 501(c)3 non-profit, therefore, all your donations are tax deductible.  You can donate on our website www.elijahsjar.org or mail us a check.
  • We are always low on peanut butter, tuna, soups and meals in a can.  Consider organizing a drive at you place of work, neighborhood or school.   Peanut butter is one of our main staples, it is easily stored and eaten and it is a high source of protein.

Elijah's Jar is a 501(c)3 non-profit, therefore, all your donations are tax deductible. We are an all-volunteer organization.
